Bucs Select CB Sean Bunting In Second Round

After selecting linebacker Devin White with their first pick of the draft, the Buccaneers used their second pick to again add to their defense. And with the 39th pick overall & the seventh pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers selected cornerback Sean Bunting from Central Michigan.

Bunting, six feet 195 pounds, was a first team All-MAC player in 2018 & earned the team's honor as Defensive Player Of The Year. The redshirt junior recorded two interceptions, two forced fumbles & 37 tackles in 11 starts last year.

Scouts see Bunting to be able to play press-man & zone coverage at the next level. And with the Buccaneers looking to blitz more than in past years under new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Bunting will be required to perform in solo coverage.

Bunting becomes just the third defensive back from Central Michigan to get drafted in the NFL since 1985.

Tampa Bay currently holds the 70th pick overall & the sixth pick in the third round of the NFL Draft.
