Stanek Heads To IL, With Roe Returning From Injury

ST. PETERSBURG (WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays placed right-handed pitcher Ryne Stanek on the 10-day injured list Saturday with what the team is calling right hip soreness.

Stanek pitched the ninth inning in Friday's 9-2 defeat at the hands of the Chicago White Sox, allowing a run on three hits and striking out one. The 27-year-old is 0-2 this season with a 3.40 ERA in 41 appearances this season, including 27 as an opener.

To take his place on the active roster, right-hander Hunter Wood, who was optioned to Triple-A Friday, was recalled from Durham. In addition, left-hander Brendan McKay, who took the loss Friday, was optioned to Triple-A and right-handed reliever Chaz Roe, who has been out since being diagnosed with a right flexor tendon strain, was activated from the 10-day injured list.
